Biographical Letter of a Bodybuilder!
From Malachi Smith
To whom it may concern,
My name is Malachi Smith, a Tulsa native of 31 years, who from childhood has had aspirations of greatness in physical competitions. Unfortunately, I was always deemed to be small.
I picked up wrestling at the age of 10. Unfortunately, I was a rebel without a cause. This behavior led me to an early juvenile record and ultimately led me to the penitentiary where I served a 4 year sentence. That's not very long, but long enough to realize being a rebel was definitly not for me. Previous to my incarceration, I had become addicted to cocaine, ecstacy, and any other drug that may have been available. I was death waiting to happen.
Thanks to my God, my healer, my provider, and my personal Lord and Savior, I have been drug free since October of 2005. I am presently married to a beautiful woman with a similar testimony as mine, who is truly my better half.
I was blessed with a strong spirit, which can be a double edged sword, but at times (though I don't tell her too often) my wife's support and encouragement even when I'm undeserving of it because I've been a jerk is God's way of giving me the help I need. I am truly blessed to have a wife as this.
I say all this because it is my wife who has encouraged and supported me in my efforts to be an all natural bodybuilder. Long before my life detour she knows I had all these goals in hiding and have done nothing with it, well, no longer. I trained for 2 years trying to gain weight and finally made my stage presence in 2008. God has led me to an excellent drug free coach who has also become my personal mentor and friend.
I am currently raising money to fly to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to compete in the North American Championships to try to achieve pro status. This is a great honor and blessing to reach this far up the ladder in bldybuilding this quick. I am just grateful to have this opportunity, but I just don't feel right leaving my wife and 18 month old son for 5 days while I'm competing on the beach at one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.
Though they are not the ones competing, they deserve a break too. My family has endured and struggled right along with me. My story, my wife's story, and many others like ours are all too common but usually the ending is a bit more terminal. I would hope that my story could be one of encouragement to others in like situations and to seek a higher power to transform their lives, so as to live a body proud, natural, healthy, and morally upright lifestyle.
In closing, I would also hope this testimony could move you to help in any way possible to help make this possible. Enclosed is an expense list, a list of my accomplishments, and dates of my show.
May God richly bless you and return your generosity 100 fold. Thank you for your time and consideration and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Expense list for those interested in what it will take for Malachi to be able to compete and take his family with him.
